Lieza Dessein

Lieza Dessein reinterprets historically gendered craft techniques, diverting them from their domestic and decorative origins. Her work oscillates between meticulous handcraft and digital experimentation, revealing the complexity and resilience of these so-called "minor" cultural practices. By translating ornamental forms into sculptural gestures, she questions how craftsmanship can transcend its historical boundaries and claim a place in contemporary art. Her practice pays homage to the invisible histories of women's work, positioning the decorative arts as essential vehicles of memory and cultural identity.
